Sitemap of Your Web Site - Help the Search Engines Find You
What is a Sitemap?
An XML Sitemap is a list of all the pages on your web site, specially coded in XML, a programming markup language required by search engines. The major search engines - Google, Yahoo, MSN, and Ask.com have agreed upon a universal format that they will accept XML Sitemaps in.
The Sitemap, in addition to providing a list of all your pages to the search engines, will also contain some additional information about each web page that is of value to the search engines. Once created, your Sitemap will automatically update itself as you modify, delete, or create web pages.
Note: An XML Sitemap is not the type of Sitemap that helps your web site visitors navigate your web site. It is a behind the scenes Sitemap specifically created for search engines.
Why XML Sitemaps are Important
XML Sitemaps inform search engines about all the web pages on your web site. Normally, search engines navigate or ?crawl? your web site themselves, following links and attempting to find new pages. Often, they do not find all the pages on your web site this way.
Submitting your Sitemap to the major search engines is a powerful solution that provides them with a full list of all the pages on your web site. Sitemaps give the search engines a guided tour of your web site when they visit.
Using a SiteMap, a search engine will also be able to find "stand-alone" web pages that are not linked to from anywhere else on your web site.
Sitemaps help search engines find newly created pages faster.
What is Google Webmaster Tools?
As part of this offer, we will set up a Google Webmaster Tools account for you. Google Webmaster Tools provides a number of useful features for web site owners:
- Find out what date Google last crawled your web site (useful if you have added new pages or content and want to know if they are included in search engine results yet).
- View all the pages in your web site that Google is indexing.
- View a list of other web sites that are linking to your web site.
- View information for Google searches where your web site does well.
Summary of Services Provided by iMaxWebSolutions
We will:
- Generate an XML Sitemap for your web site that conforms to the SiteMaps 0.90 Protocol standard agreed upon by Google, Yahoo, MSN, and Ask.com. The SiteMap will automatically update in the future whenever your web site has new, updated, or deleted pages.
- Set up a Google Webmaster Tools account for you and submit your Sitemap information to Google. Check that the SiteMap has been accepted without errors.
- Set up a Yahoo Site Explorer account for you and submit your Sitemap to Yahoo. Check that the SiteMap has been accepted without errors.
- Submit your Sitemap to Ask.com. Note: MSN does not yet offer a way of submitting Sitemaps.
- Provide you with a login for your Google Webmaster Tools account. You will be able to login and view valuable information about your web site such as the date Google last crawled your web site and a list of all web sites Google believes are linking to your web site.
Price
$50.00 (one time fee, no additional charges*). You will be charged the one time fee as part of your next monthly bill. This charge will be listed as a web design charge on your next monthly bill.

* Google currently does not assess any usage charges for Webmaster Tools (nor have they done so previously). While a change to this policy is unlikely, they could at some point change their policy and charge a monthly fee. Because of this, iMax cannot guarantee it will always be free on a monthly basis.
